It doesn’t matter how old I get I will always have a special place in my heart for Disney. So must so that for my 30th birthday I had a Disney themed fancy-dress party. If you didn’t instantly assume that I was dressed as Ariel, then you don’t know me at all. I recently saw The Disney Tag floating around the blogger world and I couldn’t not jump on the trend and join in.
FAVOURITE DISNEY FILM
No surprise that my favourite film is The Little Mermaid. When I was younger, I would scream at the TV “Don’t give her your voice Ariel, don’t do it”. Clearly, I thought that one day Ariel would hear me, and the outcome of the film would just change entirely. And if you don’t know the relevance of this statement then I don’t think we can be friends anymore.
FAVOURITE DISNEY CHARACTER
To avoid being repetitive and to avoid the cliché answers I’m going completely off kilt. Someone that makes me laugh and is a great smaller character is Mulan’s Grandmother. “Do you want to stay for dinner? Do you want to stay forever?”. I’m also a fan of Merida’s brothers in Brave, ginger power, and all that!
“Our fate lives within us; you only have to be brave enough to see it.” — Merida
FAVOURITE DISNEY PRINCESS
I’m a fan of pretty much all the Disney Princesses, except for Snow White. I think as a character she is a bit pathetic and drippy and doesn’t have a whole lot of substance. My top five Princesses would be Ariel, Merida, Belle, Anna, and Jasmine.
FAVOURITE DISNEY SIDEKICK
That would have to be Tinkerbell, the level of sass is on another level. She can fly, has fairy dust, and gets to live in Neverland. I also love the gargoyles from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Especially the little fat one that falls in love with Esmerelda’s pet goat.
FAVOURITE DISNEY SONG
My favourite is Part Of Your World but the reprise version that Ariel sings to Eric on the beach. I also love A Whole New World from Aladdin and Go The Distance from Hercules. Another banger is I’ll Make A Man Out Of You from Mulan.
FAVOURITE DISNEY VILLIAN
Prince Hans without a doubt. Purely for the fact that it was such a shock twist when he turned out to be the bad guy. I did not see that one coming at all and how beautiful was Anna’s punch.
WHICH DISNEY CHARACTER WOULD BE YOUR BEST FRIEND
It would have to be Meg from Hercules. She has perfect resting bitch face, doesn’t take no crap and is basically a bad ass. Well, you know minus that trading her soul for a man part, but no one is perfect. I feel we’d get on really well!
“Even miracles take a little time.” — Fairy Godmother
WHO WOULD BE YOUR DISNEY PET
I’m drawn to saying Jaq and Gus from Cinderella. I like the idea that they could organise all the animals to make me new outfits.
HAVE YOU BEEN TO DISNEYLAND
I’m lucky enough to have been to Disneyland in both America and Paris. My Mum has taken me to America twice and my Dad and Uncle took me and my cousins to Paris.
WHO IS YOUR DISNEY ALTER EGO
Aside from Ariel I feel like I channel a bit of Merida from Brace. Not only do I have her hair going on, but I’d also be fighting for control of my own destiny. No one should take your choices away from you or force their vision of your future onto you. I also happen to be quite unruly, impulsive, and loud like Merida. I know you’re all completely surprised by that revelation.
DO YOU COLLECT ANYTHING DISNEY
Not anymore but when I was younger, I collected Disney stamps. There was a special book that you could buy to store them in and I still have it at my Dads. There was a classic Mickey collection and a Disney film collection, and I collected both.
WHAT DISNEY FILM WOULD YOU STAR IN
Aside from the obvious answer I’d have to go for the live action Cinderella film. When I watched it I wanted nothing more than to be a part of it. I was literally staring in wonder at the scenes from the Prince’s ball, especially the dance scenes. I want someone to hold a ball so that I can put on a beautiful dress and dance the night away. It left me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.
“Some people are worth melting for.”— Olaf
HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU WATCHED YOUR FIRST DISNEY FILM
I don’t actually remember the exact age, but I’d guess around the 3 or 4 mark. I couldn’t even tell you what the first one I watched was either. Surely no one knows this unless they started watching as a grown up.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT DISNEY
I love that Disney takes me to a world where happily ever after is a possibility and solves every problem. Clearly that messes you up for life in the real world, but whilst watching the films you can escape from everything. You can disappear into a fantasy world full of warm and fuzzy feelings and just take a moment. Disney has this magical quality that just draws me in every time.
FAVOURITE DISNEY COUPLE
I’ve tried to stray from the expected answers and repetitive responses throughout this Disney Tag, but I just can’t with this one. My favourite couple will always be Ariel and Eric from The Little Mermaid. Despite knowing her family would disapprove Ariel saves a human from drowning. Eric takes in a stranger that he finds stranded on the beach having lost her voice. Eric takes on a freaking giant sea witch to save the girl he loves. And Ariel gives up everything to become a human and be with the man she loves. I just love them as a couple and when Ariel says “Goodbye Daddy” I tear up pretty much every time.
sometimes I wish I had seen all the classic Disney movies that everyone seem to know about. the only one I've seen in full is Aladdin. everything else I've seen in pieces or just knew the gist of the story.
